ASSOCIATE PARTNERS > ADRIAN BABAULT
Adrian, the son of a professional hunter Rene Babault, grew up surrounded by adventure, safaris and the African wilds. He was educated in England from the age of fourteen at Repton and then at the University of Brighton where he studied Hotel Catering and Institutional Management.
He returned to East Africa in 1991 and spent the next six years helping people displaced by war or famine under the United Nations and other aid organizations. He spent a year and a half on Kenya’s desert boundary with Somalia helping to establish camps for refugees escaping conflict in their homeland. He moved to Rwanda in early 1994 to establish a water delivery system to refugee camps housing Burundian refugees, and was evacuated at the onset of the genocide there in April of that year. He continued to work on Rwanda’s rehabilitation for the following three years, initially supervising refugee assistance programs in Tanzania and then in Kigali in the business of providing aid organizations with materials they required.
He returned to Kenya at the end of 1997 and has been involved with tourism, travel, and safaris ever since, both managing lodges and guiding safaris in Kenya and northern Tanzania. Adrian has been sought after to assist on such diverse projects as establishing a camp for a film crew on a remote mountain in northern Kenya, completing advance field work and PR for a large wind farm, and assisted a New York State university with climate research studies on Lake Turkana.
