MALCOLM DESTRO > GUESTBOOK
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit"
The hiking was incredible, as was the food. We loved the sense of history and the remote feeling of Patagonia. I would return with my family. The guides were terrific too.
A great, great trip. Many thanks. 2016
We loved the Tango Dance in Buenos Aires and relaxing in our beautiful hotel at the beginning of the trip.
On to Mendoza, where the resort was spacious and comfortable, with an excellent spa. We really loved this place. We enjoyed the wine tasting and making our own wine. The lunches we had there were outstanding. The dinner set out in the vine yard was fun too. The food was unbelievable!
Tierra Patagonia; the rooms were lovely, with comfy beds and pillows (!) and spectacular views. Our favorite was the 'tub'.
Llao Llao was another of our favorites. From here we went fly fishing which we had never done. Even if you don't fish, it was a great day out, sitting in the boat and enjoying the scenery, having a great lunch prepared by the guides with plenty of wine.
There were many favorites but some of our best memories are sitting up late at night with Malcolm, Diego and our friends, rehashing the day and laughing a lot. Malcolm and Diego were excellent, these two guys are the very best and we just loved them. Diego continued what Malcolm always does, 'your wish is our command' and it was great to have a Spanish speaker with us throughout. We had the best time and part of our best time was hanging out with Malcolm and Diego. 2015
The trip was amazing. We tried to describe the food, wine and scenery to our kids but fell short.
What an awesome trip. Thank you Malcolm and Diego.
"Life is short, and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us"

Meriel, I love my mountain that you painted for me. The name of it is Tronodor, “thunder mountain”. It makes a thunder sound when the glacier breaks and the ice drops 300 feet. I spent my 18th birthday climbing it-March 24, 1952. I will never forget it. looking west, I could see all the way to the Pacific Ocean. I will also never forget the time we spent with you and Malcolm. Thank you for this very special memory.
Then—as if that wasn’t a lovely gift, came your fabulous illustrated account of our trip. Osvaldo and I have read it and looked at it several times—each time discovering new little touches in your drawings. What a special talent you have! If pictures say a thousand words, drawings say way more.
We look forward to more travels with the Destro family, on your continent or ours.
Everyone we met and everywhere we went either met or exceeded our expectations. Our friends claimed the trip to be a “30 out of 30”! 2016
Without a doubt, Malcolm was the star who made it all look so easy. We are thrilled to have experienced some of what he has to give and perhaps we’ll find our way to Patagonia one day!
Taken from a safari trip questionnaire regarding the quality of food and drink in camp, 'Very, very excellent'. 2016
Thank YOU Malcolm, for the amazing planning, hospitality, and heartfelt humor with the kids!
An absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience with people I love! 2016
I have such fond memories of our safari. I loved the amazing sightings of animals in the wild, doing what they are meant to do. I also enjoyed the gourmet meals, comfortable lodgings and other aspects of 'the good life' at our camps. Thank you for your attention to detail and ensuring the best for us during our time in Kenya. I have no doubt you could write the definitive tome on any number of magnificent creatures in Africa. Thank you Malcolm and your team 2016
Our safari exceeded our expectations. 2015
We had a marvelous time on safari. Malcolm and Adrienne were the best guides ever, we really enjoyed all their stories. So much fun. The tents were so comfortable yet in the wild with the animal noises at night, we loved that. The crew were all wonderful and helpful. Food was delicious, lots of good vegetables for those of us who like vegetables. We loved Rwanda gorilla trekking too. Beautiful country. We had great family time too, we loved playing some of the games that were in the game box.
We really did have the trip of a lifetime. We all love Africa. Thanks for all your help. We loved adventuring with you Malcolm. Thanks very much.
Thanks for sharing your Africa with us. We are still basking in
As utterly corny as it sounds, it was, without a doubt, the most thrilling adventure of my lifetime; traveling through those wonderful landscapes, living in close proximity to all those magnificent creatures, the impact was utterly visceral for me, I didn't quite expect the emotional impact the experience can present and it is easy to get teary in reminiscing.
Royal African did a great job, scheduling and itinerary perfect; loved the adventure tempered with luxury.
Malcolm, Peter and Chris were superb guides, cannot thank you enough.
With warmest regards
Thanks so much for the organization you did for our safari. We had not ever been on a Safari before and it exceeded all our expectations.
The tent camps were very well done, the lodges selected were outstanding, and the other services by Malcolm etc were perfect and we were delighted with Royal safaris, and liked it as it was.
All 3 guides were not just excellent, they were outstanding. Their knowledge of the countries and the wildlife and their experience added a further rich dimension to our adventure.
We will keep in touch with Malcolm, Chris, and Peter to follow their thoughts and exploits about East Africa.
CHOCOLATES ON TAP?
By this you are to understand that I thought the whole experience nearly perfect, to the point of being unable to be improved upon
Malcolm was fabulous.
We all loved him.
He was informative, helpful, witty and fun.
Special kudos too, to Malcolm's wife for the outstanding menus.
The meals were outstanding.
The camaraderie between the guides was such fun. It enhanced the trip quality. They were knowledgeable and seasoned.
I miss them all!
Malcolm, this note to you is long overdue, as not a day has gone by since that I haven't thought fondly of our time in Kenya. To be perfectly honest, it was more than a little difficult for me to readjust to reality, and to accept the fact that a trip I'd been looking forward to for 15+ years, was now behind me. Of course the silver lining is the treasure trove of memories our family now shares, which we hope will never fade. Our 897 combined photos and videos should help with that, and we've already delighted in reviewing those over and over:
Please stay in touch and all our best to your team.
Dear, Dear Malcolm
- Our incomparable guide wherever our road is - Kenya or Tanzania - you are truly a jewel
to whom we are deeply grateful.
Our next safari will not be soon enough with you!!
Thanks and love to everyone.
To our rafiki, Malcolm and all of his fantastic crew,
we say; Ashe Oleng!!
Many, many thanks for a fabulous experience.
We will be back.....
Try as we might, it was impossible to visualize what could be done with canvas tents and some incredible ingenuity! Each morning we were greeted with the creaking of our steel buckets carrying heated water, as the tanks were filled for a wake-up shower, followed by the soft padding of feet and the gentle call of "Good morning" - only to lie there in our comfortable beds and anticipate what the day might bring in Africa.
We had flush toilets, hot showers, solar lights and hot water bottles. Each afternoon was occupied by a post-lunch siesta and afternoon tea before the sunset game drive. The beautiful rhythm of the days made each blend into the other until we really had no idea what it was….
the mark of a successful vacation!
Thank you from the deepest reaches of our hearts for allowing our worlds to expand so beautifully to include Kenya, its land and its people.
I wanted to take a minute to give you a special Thanks for such a grand trip. You are the “glue” Malcolm that makes the whole thing so fantastic! You made sure that not only the kids had a grand time and lots of fun, but that we old timers also had just as much fun on a very special trip. Bringing your family for the last few days was a great idea, all three of them are very special and truly added to the experience for all of us. I often thought of you and the other three guides as “the gang of four” - you guys play off of each other perfectly! My two trips to Kenya have left me with a great feeling for your Country and for this I thank you sir.
