ASSOCIATE PARTNERS > MOA MONWELA
Moa was born and raised in Maun - the gateway to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. His passion for wildlife started at an early age. During his school holidays, as a member of the wildlife club, Moa went on many tours to the multitude of national parks and game reserves in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. These outings in the 80's and 90's inspired Moa to follow his dream of immersing himself in Africa's wilderness.
After finishing school in Zimbabwe, Moa went on to study for 3 years. Returning home to Botswana in 1997, he started his career in the hotel and hospitality industry. In 2000, Moa joined Okavango Wilderness Safaris, where he worked in several camps and lodges as a manager and a guide. Guiding is his true passion, being as close to nature as possible and sharing unforgettable experiences with guests. During this time he led privately guided safaris for the Wilderness Safaris Exploration division (Overland Safaris). While working in the Jao Concession he conducted lion monitoring and also monitored the endangered birds of Botswana.
Moa is currently working in the safari industry as a freelance professional guide and a guide trainer/assessor. The remoteness and the beauty of these wildlife areas in Southern Africa and more particularly Northern Botswana, continue to revitalize his soul and his love for nature. Moa is a keen wildlife photographer; some of his work has been published in Africa Geographic and Africa Birds and Birding Magazine. Moa also has a keen interest in ethnology. Moa enjoys travelling and whether it be holiday or work, he continues to explore the game reserves and national parks of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
